1) AIPMT 2014 Analysis by Aakash Institute-
AIPMT 2014 exam, a national level medical entrance examination was held on May 4, 2014. According to CBSE, the exam conducting body as many as 6, 16, 982 candidates had registered for the written exam. The entrance exam is conducted for admission for undergraduate medical and dental course.
Aakash Chaudhry: The pattern of the exam was same as that introduced in NEET in 2013. There were a total of 180 questions, each question carrying 4 marks with 1 negative mark for wrongly answered questions.
- With respect to Physics, questions were above average. As far as Chemistry is concerned, the paper was average in terms of difficulty level. The Biology paper had most of the questions from NCERT. The paper was balanced with questions evenly distributed from XI as well as XII portion.
- Physics section was tougher compared to the other sections while Biology section was comparatively easier.
- For Physics- more than 50% questions were of calculative nature, leading to more time investment by students. Approximately, only 20-30% questions were from NCERT books. Overall, the Physics question paper was time consuming due to fractional calculations. Roughly, 30% questions were theoretical and were brainstorming in nature. Most of the questions had two or more concepts interlinked and were not straight forward mind-benders.
- For Chemistry- Most of the questions were from NCERT book. Numericals were very easy and formula based. Most of the questions were conceptual and an average student would have done well and would have completed the paper within time limit easily.
- For Biology- Most of the questions were from NCERT books. The paper was balanced with questions evenly distributed from XI as well as XII syllabus. The questions involved different level of skills – some being knowledge based and some being analytical type.
2)AIPMT 2014 analysis by Career Point-
“It was average paper as far as difficulty level is concerned”

According to candidates and experts, the exam was moderate in terms of difficulty level with most candidates finding Physics to be toughest among the three sections.
- Overall it was a balanced paper.
- It was average paper as far as difficulty level is concerned. Physics was a bit lengthy and tougher than last year but Chemistry and Biology were easier than last year.
- About 12 questions in Biology were based on the information which is not covered in NCERT.
- 2 questions in Chemistry did not have any of the correct answers.
- Physics question paper was difficult and lengthy compared to last year. Around 15% questions were complex and 60% questions were average. Remaining questions were easy. Chemistry question paper was average and it was an easy paper compared to last year. All four options in 2 questions (1 from Organic and 1 from Inorganic) were incorrect so in these 2 questions, 4 marks should be given to all students.
- Biology was a standard paper. Few questions had close and tricky options. An average student must have found around 10% questions difficult to attempt because information given in such questions were not provided in NCERT text books.
